Industrial Bedroom Furniture – What You Need to Know

Steel Vintage Blog - Industrial Bedroom Furniture – What You Need to Know

No place in the home is more relaxing and personal than your bedroom, and so when it comes to selecting your bedroom furniture, it’s only natural that you’ll want to pick pieces that will reflect your own individual style.

Here at Steel Vintage, our bedroom furniture is extremely popular – and for good reason. We’re all about pushing the boundaries of what you can do with your interior design, and because of this our furniture is available in a wide range of materials and designs to suit you. Whether you’re looking for a new headboard in our classic oak model or solid steel slats, or some sideboards in a darker walnut – each and every element of our furniture is customisable so that you can get the perfect vintage-inspired piece for your home.

But as with any investment for your home, furniture or otherwise, it’s always a good idea to do your research. As with our previous post on coffee tables, our Steel Vintage team thought we should break down exactly what you need to know if you’re looking into purchasing industrial bedroom furniture and don’t know quite where to start.
We hope that the following couple of questions will help you out, but for anything more specific, feel free to get in touch. Our team are always on hand to answer any queries you may have.

What do I need to consider before buying a new bed?

When it comes to buying a bed, it’s important to choose wisely. Most people tend to spend approximately one-third of their time in their bedrooms every night when they sleep, so it makes sense to spend time getting your room exactly to your tastes!
Questions to ask when picking out a new bed include:

  • How much of an investment do I want this bed to be?

It’s estimated that most people keep their beds for about 10 years, making your bed a definite long-term investment. Here at Steel Vintage, we believe that if built properly, your bed should last far longer than 10 years. Our beds and accompanying bedside furniture is designed to be bold yet not overpowering, and also able to last you a lifetime.

  • Is it comfortable?

Whilst design is certainly a key factor when picking a bed, comfort is the most vital element in your selection process. With the right mattress, your bed is capable of doing wonders to help you achieve a good night’s sleep: a precious commodity in today’s busy world!

  • Is it the right size?

After comfort, size is the next big factor to consider. After all, your bed has to be able to fit in the appropriate space! Generally speaking, it’s considered a good idea to buy the biggest bed you can fit into the room, unless you require the space for other furniture like desks or big wardrobes. The larger the bed, the more room you’ll have to stretch out, and the less likely you are to disturb your sleeping partner if you have one! The length of bed is also important, as it should be approximately 10 – 15 cms longer than the tallest sleeper. Worth noting if you’re tall and don’t fancy hanging off the end of the bed when you settle down for the night.

Will industrial furniture work in a relaxing bedroom environment?

This is a question which often arises when our Steel Vintage team use the words ‘industrial furniture’ and ‘bedroom’ in the same sentence! And with good reason – your bedroom is a sanctuary and you don’t want your furniture to feel out of place for being too harsh or metallic when placed in such a calm setting.
In reality, industrial furniture isn’t as extreme as so many of us assume it to be. If you’re worried that an industrial bed or sideboard won’t fit in with your existing decor, then you can put these worries to rest. Whilst our Steel Vintage design team take a great deal of inspiration from vintage industrial furniture models, we still appreciate that each home is different and requires versatile furniture pieces.
Because of this, we ensure that our range is as flexible as possible so that each and every customer can pick the right Steel Vintage pieces to suit them. If you’re a lover of wooden furnishings, then our stylish Blacksmith Bed is the perfect option for you, and can also be paired with our stunning Workshop Bedside Tables for the ultimate wooden vintage interior look. But we understand that our wooden pieces aren’t for everyone. If you prefer the clean, polished look of our solid steel furniture, then you’ll be sure to love our Cell Bed – inspired by security doors and made with solid steel bars that create a striking look that you won’t find anywhere else.

It’s important to keep in mind that everything on our Steel Vintage site is a guideline – a taster if you like – of the sorts of pieces we can create in our workshop. By all means if you’ve got something completely different in mind for your bedroom – whether it’s a new colour or wood, then don’t hesitate to get in touch and see what Steel Vintage can do for you! With our extensive customer list that ranges from homeowners to large corporate companies, we aim to make furniture that ticks all the boxes. Quality is at the heart of what we do, and so we hope that you’ll consider Steel Vintage for your next furniture spending spree. We can design and build you the perfect furniture item to turn your bedroom into the room you’ve always wanted.
