A Guide To Conscious Seating

If you’re conscious about the environment and your health, consider changing the seating in your office. Fortunately, several sustainable and vegan-friendly options are available on the market today.

Of course, the most sustainable thing to sit on is the floor. However, it could be more comfortable, and even the most environmentally conscious people deserve a comfy seat.

Regarding our seating range, it was important to us that they were made with the same care towards the environment as any other piece of furniture that comes out of our workshop. Vegan Seating can take a lot of work to come by. We’ve got your back, though (figuratively & literally)!

What Is Conscious Seating?

‘Conscious seating’ is finding the most sustainable option for seating in your office in a world of mass-produced chairs and sofas. It means considering the materials used to manufacture the products and where they come from. For example, are they manufactured locally or overseas? Are they made from recycled materials? Are they produced using child labour? And so on.

Why Should You Care About Conscious Seating?

The main reason why it’s crucial to consider conscious seating options is that it’s good for the environment and our health. By choosing products made locally or using recycled materials, we reduce carbon emissions during transportation and help save energy by using less fuel to transport goods worldwide (especially if they were manufactured overseas).

How Can You Make More Conscious Decisions When Choosing Seating?

  1. Buying secondhand or refurbished furniture is the simplest way to ensure you’re not contributing to overconsumption. This is an excellent option for many reasons; you can often find bargain and one-off pieces.
  2. Opt for locally made products – ideally, this would be from a company down the road, but that is only sometimes possible. Being conscious of where you’re buying from, or even where the materials going into your furniture come from, is a great way to start making more conscious decisions.
  3. Materials are often overlooked when buying furniture, but it is a great place to start learning about sustainable materials. When it comes to the materials we use – these are never animal-derived; these are from the oils we use to finish our wood to the vegan-friendly leatherette we use for our upholstered chairs and sofas. 4. Investing in furniture is one of the best ways to reduce the amount of furniture that ends up in landfills. When shopping for durable furniture, there are several points to be aware of, and in the long run, is it worth it? We think so!

If you’re ready to take the leap and invest in your future with carefully selected pieces of furniture, then you’re in the right place. Please browse our range of sustainable seating options or discover the wide selection of faux-leather swatches available for any of our upholstered seating.
